Tournament Format and Rules
All teams guaranteed 3 games minimum All teams are expected to adhere to the morals of fair play. (Point System) 1. Two (2) points are awarded for a win. 2. One (1) point is awarded for each half won. 3. In all ties, the (2) points for the win are divided between the teams. Tie breakers: 1. Position, in case of a tie, is decided by ---- goals against ---- goals for ***ALL TEAMS MUST REGISTER prior to their first game and present a roster. ***INSURANCE: Each team is responsible for obtaining medical insurance for its own players. ***ALL AGE GROUPS are determined by their age on
January 1st of 2009. ***FULL EQUIPMENT is required. (Non-compliance with this rule results in a technical foul.) Offense & Defense: mouth guard, helmet, shoulder pads, elbow pads, gloves (closed palm), athletic cup. Goalie: mouth guard, helmet, gloves (closed palm), chest protector, throat guard, athletic cup.
*AUTHORITY: The referee has complete authority in all games. *NO OPEN FIELD BODY CHECKS. Players may make contact while playing the ball. ** Unless stated otherwise in these rules, referees will follow game rules accordingly: 8,10,12&u NYS Modified rules 14&u NYS JV rules 17&u NYS Varsity rules** *LONG STICKS: There is no limitation on the number of long sticks you can have on the field at one time. This rule does not apply to the 8 / 10& under age group where no long sticks are allowed. *FOUR POINT RULE: This rule is for age groups 8, 10, 12 & under. It simply states that any team that falls behind by four or more goals will receive the ball instead of having a face off. This rule does not apply to the 14 & 17& under age groups. *TIME OUTS: One time out per half, per team, is allowed. No team is allowed to call a time out in the last two minutes of either half. *FIGHTING: Any player initiating a fight will be expelled from the game and/or tournament at the discretion of the referee. *STALLING: In the last two minutes of each half, a team clearing the ball has twenty seconds to clear the ball into their attack zone. Failure to do so is loss of possession. Once into your attack zone, you may not come out of the attack zone. *PENALTIES: All personal fouls will be two 2 minutes in length. All technical fouls will be one (1) minute in length. All penalties will begin when the person has left the field through the substitution area. The ball will be put into play as soon as the offended team has received the ball. Should you not leave the field through the special substitution area, your penalty time will not begin until you come off through the substitution area. 8 / 10 & under will utilize fast breaks instead of penalties. *FORFEIT: Any team without ten (10) players on the field and ready to play within five minutes of the scheduled start time will forfeit any game. Eight (8) players for 8 / 10 & under. The opposing team will be awarded all points. *PROFANITY: Any derogatory remark made in reference to, or directed at, an opposing team gives cause to the referee to eject a player, coach, or spectator from the game or tournament. * PARKING: No parking or driving on the grass. Use the parking lots only. *BATHROOMS: There are bathrooms in the ice arena and a portable near the fields. *TRASH: Please use the trash barrels to dispose of all garbage.
